Where are we now with Brexit? Exploring the impacts on the EU and China from a complexity perspective?
The changing role of law in a global and Chinese context
Time:10:10-12:10, 24 April, 2018
Venue: Room 115, SEIS
Lecturers:Robert Geyer,Xu Lu
In this talk Professor Robert Geyer will examine the political developments that led to one of the biggest political decisions in the UK in the past 40 years (Brexit) and the difficult challenges of defining what it means (as the PM Theresa May said, “Brexit means Brexit”). Moreover, since the result of the referendum a wave of internal and external political and economic positioning has been going on. Can the UK negotiate a ‘smooth Brexit’ or will it fall over the ‘cliff edge’? What will this mean for the EU and China? What about Trump? Professor Geyer will try to bring these various points together with the help of complexity theory.
