On June 23, 2017, Symposium on Brexit, Populism and Future of European Integration took place in Beijing suburb. It was co-sponsored by British Studies Center of Beijing Foreign Studies University, Institute of European Studies of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and British Studies Sub-Association of Chinese Association for European Studies.
Held at the anniversary of the Brexit Referendum and the start of Brexit talks, the symposium focused on Brexit and its impact, populism, UK’s influence on global affairs, the future of European integration and Sino-British, as well as China-EU, relations.
About 30 experts and scholars from the Institute of European Studies of Chinese Academy of Social Science, China Institute of Contemporary International Relations, China Institute of International Studies, Development Research Center of the State Council, Nanjing University, China University of Political Science and Law, China Foreign Affairs University, Shanghai International Studies University and Beijing Foreign Studies University participated in the symposium. Huang Ping, Director of Institute of European Studies of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, made an opening remark. Professor Wang Zhanpeng of BFSU British Studies Center, Professor Zhang Zhizhou of BFSU College of International Relations, Professor Ding Yifan from Development Research Center of the State Council and six BFSU Ph.D. students spoke at the meeting.
