On 15 November, the second work conference of national and regional research cultivation base of 2013 was held in Nankai University by the Ministry of Education, which further studied and implemented the spirit in the forum of “The flourishing of philosophy and social sciences in colleges and universities, the promotion of the construction of new think tank with Chinese characteristics” by the 18th National Congress of the CPC and Deputy Prime Minister Liu Yandong, as well as summarizing and exchanging the national and regional research work in 2012. Professor Wang Zhanpeng and Professor Song Yunfeng of the British Studies Center participated in the conference. The vice president of Nankai University Guan Naijia gave a welcome speech. Deputy Director Chen Yinghui of The International Department of the Ministry of Education, on behalf of Director Zhang Xiuqin, made a detailed deployment about the future development direction of the center, work focus and construction of teams. The conference invited Yang Jiemian, a researcher from Shanghai Institute of International Studies to give a counseling report about think tank construction of international studies. Each research base made a statement about its work in 2013 and its willingness to take on public affairs. Research bases were divided into groups and commented on each other. Professor Wang Zhanpeng gave a report on the achievements and shortcomings of the British Studies Center in 2013.
