On 13 February 2015, Professor Wang Zhanpeng, director of BFSU British Studies Centre, delivered a speech in the Institute of International and European Affairs (IIEA), Dublin, Ireland, entitled China’s Response to Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership Negotiations. In it, Professor Wang explored the prospects and constraints on the proposed Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) and analysed how TTIP would affect the current international trade system and the relationship between China and the West. From the perspective of Sino-Europe and Sino-US relationships, Asia-Pacific Regional Cooperation and the establishment of new international and regional financial institutions and of China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative, Professor Wang examined how China should respond to the challenges posed by TTIP economically and geopolitically.
Brendan Halligan, Chairmen of the IIEA, presided over the event. IIEA is Ireland’s famous think-tank on international issues, which ranked among the top 40 think-tanks in Europe by the University of Pennsylvania in 2015.
