From 30 September to 8 October, 2014, Professor Wang Zhanpeng, together with experts from the Institute of European Studies of CASS and Shanghai International Studies University, went to the UK for academic talks and think-tank exchanges. The event was sponsored by the British Foreign Office. They visited the Foreign Office, Royal Institute of International Affairs (Chatham House), London School of Economics and Political Sciences, Oxford University and so on. They also had meetings with members of the Policy Research Section of the Conservative Party and the UK Foreign Policy Centre. Discussions were held with officials and scholars from the UK government, universities and think-tanks on issues of Sino-UK and Sino-EU relations, and on foreign policies of the UK and EU.

On 6 October, Professor Wang visited the Confucius Institute in the School of Oriental and Africa Studies, London University. He met with the Dean and the two reached some agreements to further cooperate on research work and to hold more academic meetings in future.
